Woman Claimed God Said I’m Her Husband, Threatened to Kill My Wife If She Refused Our Marriage – Pastor Adeboye

Pastor E.A. Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared a disturbing experience involving a married woman who persistently claimed that God told her he was her husband and even threatened his wife.

Speaking during the special Victory Hour programme on February 19, Adeboye recounted how the woman, a senior official at the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and a mother, appeared in his office several years ago and made the startling claim. Despite being married herself, she insisted that he was her destined spouse.

“There was a particular woman years ago, she came to my office and said, ‘God said you are my husband.’ I told her I was married and I am a pastor. She herself was married, a big woman working with WAEC. One of her sons is a bank manager in Ota. From her looks, she might even be older than I am,” Adeboye said.

In an effort to resolve the situation, he reported the matter to the police and sought the involvement of her husband. However, the woman remained unwavering in her claims. Even after police intervention and being warned to stop visiting the RCCG camp, she dismissed the warnings.

“We sent for her husband, but she didn’t change. We brought the matter to the Police DPO, who asked her to stop coming to the camp. She said, ‘You are joking.’”

The situation escalated further when she threatened Adeboye’s wife, saying she would kill her if she did not allow the marriage to happen.

“She told my wife, ‘If you don’t allow me to marry him, I will kill you.’”

The ordeal continued when Adeboye traveled to London to work on the church’s Sunday School manual. Without informing anyone of his trip, he received a call from the same woman upon arrival.

“As soon as I got to the house in London, the phone rang—it was in the days of landlines. When I picked the phone, she said, ‘Welcome. I have been waiting for you. You will see me soon. I’m at the next bus stop.’”

Alarmed, Adeboye immediately warned her against coming, threatening police action.

“I had to threaten her that, ‘You know this is London. If you come here, I will call the police. Police here can’t be settled like the police in Nigeria,’” he said.

The pastor concluded the account by revealing that after praying about the situation, he later learned that the woman had died.

“I prayed a single prayer. I don’t know how it happened, but they brought her dead body back to Nigeria.”
