Pastor Foluke Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has recounted a personal decision she made after embracing the Christian faith, describing how she disposed of her expensive jewelry following her family’s conversion.

Speaking in a recently shared video, she explained that before joining the Redeemed Christian Church of God, she had invested significantly in gold accessories, including pieces purchased for her children at a very young age. According to her, the shift in lifestyle that followed their conversion required a complete departure from such possessions.

She noted that at the time, gold jewelry was discouraged within their new religious environment, prompting her to remove all items she owned. She stated that she chose to discard them by throwing them into the Lagos Lagoon, rather than keeping or reselling them.

Addressing an alternative suggestion from a family acquaintance who advised that she could have given the items to her mother to sell, she said she rejected the idea, expressing the view that what she considered unsuitable for herself was not appropriate for her family members.

She also recalled temporarily adopting simpler accessories, including copper jewelry, as a substitute during the transition period, though she acknowledged that she still spent considerable amounts on them.

Despite the scale of the decision, she maintained that she has no regrets, adding that her priorities changed significantly after her conversion.
