Withdraw New Naira Notes, They’re Demonic – Primate Ayodele Tells CBN Governor
Primate Elijah Ayodele, the influential leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has called on Yemi Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to withdraw the new naira notes introduced during the previous administration. In a statement released through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele branded the newly designed notes as “satanic, demonic, and a bad omen” for Nigeria’s economy.
According to Ayodele, the continued printing of these new notes could lead Nigeria into significant financial losses, a situation he believes can be averted by simply discontinuing their use. He insisted that the previous naira note design was more suitable for Nigeria and should be reinstated as the sole legal tender in the country.
“The CBN governor should withdraw the new notes designed by former CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele. The money will run them to a big loss; he should put an end to it,” Ayodele stated emphatically. He went on to describe the new notes as “marine spirit money” with a “satanic” color, urging Nigerians to stop using them and return to the previous naira notes.
The redesign of the naira occurred during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari in late 2022, with then CBN governor Godwin Emefiele announcing the change as the country prepared for the 2023 general elections. This unusual call from Primate Ayodele adds a unique perspective to the ongoing discussion about the new currency design.
