Wike Tells Tinubu: Your Good Work Has Killed Opposition and their Coalition
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s performance, declaring that the president’s developmental strides—especially in Abuja—have effectively dismantled any opposition coalition gearing up for the 2027 elections.
Wike made the statement on Wednesday during the commissioning of key infrastructure projects in the capital city, including the Maitama-Gishiri Bridge and the link roads connecting Katampe, Jahi, and Mabushi. Speaking at the event, the minister said the scale and pace of work under Tinubu’s administration had dealt a blow to opposition efforts.
Opposition figures, notably former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, have been in talks over a possible alliance ahead of the next general elections. However, internal disagreements within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and broader challenges in forging a united opposition have slowed any meaningful progress.
According to Wike, the president’s commitment to delivering capital projects has shifted public confidence and left little room for opposition narratives to gain traction. “The coalition is bound to fail and it has failed. Your good works have killed coalition,” Wike said, directing his remarks at Tinubu.
He reaffirmed his support for the administration, adding, “Some people will not be happy; many of them were born not to be happy. Under Tinubu, contractors now have confidence in the government. Your good works have killed the coalition in Nigeria.”
