“Wike Has Crossed the Red Line, Declared Open War on PDP” – Bode George
Prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Bode George has accused Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of crossing a critical line with the recent revocation of the PDP’s national secretariat land in Abuja. In a strongly worded interview on Arise Television on Friday, George described Wike’s action as a blatant act of hostility and questioned the minister’s continued relevance within the PDP.
George, visibly concerned, said Wike’s decision marks an open declaration of war on the party. “I’m saying he has crossed the red line. Once you cross the red line, what are you looking for? So what is he still doing there then?” he asked. He likened Wike’s move to seizing his father’s house, questioning how such a person could still claim party loyalty.
The PDP elder called for an urgent meeting of party leaders, including the Board of Trustees, to respond to the unfolding situation. He emphasized that allowing such actions to go unchallenged would amount to leadership failure. “If a young man has done what he did to say they should revoke the party secretariat of our party, he has declared an open war. And it’s such a shame. We must be irresponsible as leaders and elders if we don’t take action,” he stated.
George also took aim at the PDP’s National Disciplinary Committee, led by Chief Tom Ikimi, alleging bias towards former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He rejected an invitation to serve on the committee, citing both structural flaws and personal hierarchy. “Tom met me at this party. I cannot serve under him,” George said, adding that the committee’s composition lacked balance and credibility.
Referencing a fresh Supreme Court judgment related to the PDP leadership crisis, George said the party must now move forward and focus on rebuilding. He pointed to the upcoming PDP national convention, expected between October and November, as a decisive moment in determining the party’s future direction.
Earlier reports from SaharaReporters confirmed that the FCT Administration revoked the PDP’s land due to failure to pay ground rents for nearly two decades. In a letter dated March 13, 2025, the FCTA stated that the PDP had not paid the required annual dues from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025, despite repeated reminders. The notice was signed by Director of Land Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, and described the action as a legal response to longstanding non-compliance.
