Why Tinubu Should Ban Importation of Human Hair – Reno Omokri

In a recent call to action, former presidential aide Reno Omokri has implored President Bola Tinubu to halt the importation of human hair, citing it as a critical step towards stabilizing the nation’s currency.

Omokri, addressing the ongoing depreciation of the Naira, attributed the decline to Nigerians’ inclination towards imported goods and services. He emphasized the need for a shift in consumer behavior, pointing out the recent 42% drop in the Naira against the US dollar within a two-day span.

The former special assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan criticized the nation’s preference for foreign airlines over domestic carriers and highlighted the substantial payments made to foreign airlines by the Central Bank of Nigeria. He argued that supporting Nigerian businesses, such as Air Peace, could contribute to retaining currency within the country.

Drawing attention to the extravagant spending on human hair imports, Omokri pointed out that Nigeria expends more on these cosmetic items than on educational resources. He expressed disbelief at the Central Bank’s expenditure of $200 million on human hair imports, emphasizing that such funds could have been better utilized to strengthen the national currency.

“If I were Tinubu, I would ban the importation of human hair,” Omokri declared, urging a reassessment of priorities to curb the outflow of foreign exchange. He underscored the significance of reducing dependency on imported goods, especially those that could be produced locally, to mitigate the adverse impact on the Naira.
