Why My Father Won’t Support Atiku in 2027 – Bauchi Governor’s Son
Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed, son of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, has stated that it would be difficult for his father to support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambitions.
In a post on his X account (@shamsudeen_bala) on Friday, Shamsudeen responded to a tweet by a user expressing hope that Atiku and Governor Bala Mohammed would unite to rebuild the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He dismissed the idea, accusing Atiku of undermining his father’s 2023 re-election bid by backing another candidate and mobilizing political elites in Bauchi against him.
“Honestly, it would be difficult. Because even if he wins, there is nothing he would do for us rather than settle scores,” Shamsudeen wrote. “And again, he didn’t support us in 2023. He supported Air Marshal [the APC candidate]. He also deployed Bauchi elites to tackle us. We escaped narrowly. And he respects and values us. He has consistently shown us that we are not worth dialoguing with.”
