Why I will Hand Over to Owerri Zone in 2027 — Gov Uzodimma
In a recent gathering at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square in New Owerri, Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodimma made a significant announcement regarding the future of his political leadership. The governor, who is currently in his second term, expressed his unwavering commitment to relinquishing power to Owerri Zone in 2027, in accordance with the Imo Charter of Equity.
Governor Uzodimma extended a call to the leaders in Owerri Zone, urging them to unite and work together to ensure a seamless transition in 2027. He cited the overwhelming support he received from the zone during his re-election, and he emphasized that this support plays a pivotal role in his decision to follow the principles of the Imo Charter of Equity.
The Imo Charter of Equity is rooted in the values of unity, peace, and fairness among the various zones within the state. Governor Uzodimma pledged to utilize his position and political networks to uphold and implement these principles. He firmly believes that unity within the zone will attract local and foreign investments, leading to prosperity, job creation, and a reduction in violence, not only in Owerri Zone but also throughout Imo State.
Governor Uzodimma also addressed the youth, urging them to reject violence, vandalism, and destructive behaviors. He emphasized that such actions only lead to destruction and stigmatization. Instead, he encouraged the youth to embrace peace and work towards a better future.
Additionally, the governor appealed to the leaders, youths, and women of Owerri Zone to discourage those who promote violence within Imo State. He affirmed his commitment to the Nigerian project, emphasizing that Imo State will remain faithful to its heritage and contribute to the growth of a unified Nigeria.
Various speakers at the event expressed their support for Governor Uzodimma, highlighting his accomplishments in different sectors of the state. They lauded the governor for his dedication and the backing he enjoys from all local governments in Owerri Zone.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Chief Henry Njoku, declared the unwavering faith of Owerri Zone in the governor and their strong belief in the implementation of the Charter of Equity, which positions the zone for the Governorship of Imo State in 2027.
In a resolution presented on behalf of the youth and women of Owerri Zone, Hon. Akarachi Amadi, representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, affirmed their steadfast support for Governor Hope Uzodimma’s re-election bid. As a gesture of their appreciation, an award was presented to the governor and his wife, Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma.
The event served as a testament to the governor’s commitment to unity, peace, and the future prosperity of Owerri Zone and Imo State as a whole.
