“Why I Visited My Former Boss” – Atiku
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar paid a visit to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Monday. The visit, which took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), sparked curiosity, given Atiku’s past political ties with Obasanjo.
Atiku, who served as Obasanjo’s deputy from 1999 to 2007, arrived at the venue at 12:36 p.m., accompanied by former governors Liyel Imoke of Cross River and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, as well as Senator Abdul Ningi of Bauchi Central. The delegation was received by elder statesman Oyewole Fasawe.
After a closed-door meeting that lasted over an hour, Atiku emerged at 2:11 p.m. and briefly addressed journalists. When asked about the purpose of the visit, he described it as a courtesy call and declined to discuss political matters.
“It’s just a courtesy visit, please. I am not going to talk about 2027 or politics, I am not here because of 2027” Atiku stated.
