“Why I Chose the Better Alternative and Returned to APC” – Jandor
Former Lagos PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing his experiences in both major parties and concluding that the APC remains the better political platform.
Speaking on Monday in Lagos, Jandor said his decision to return to the APC was a reflection of his commitment to the progress of Lagos State and the need for unity among progressive forces to fulfill the collective aspirations of the people. He noted that although he left the APC in the build-up to the 2023 elections, his time in the PDP had shown him a contrast in leadership and party focus.
“Before you are quick to remind me of the reasons upon which we left APC in the first place, let me respond with a popular Yoruba adage that says if a woman has not tried two husbands, she probably would not know which is better,” he said.
Jandor, who led the Lagos4Lagos movement into the PDP and secured its governorship ticket before placing third in the election, criticized internal leadership within the Lagos PDP. According to him, while the APC has a leader determined to secure victories for the party and deliver benefits to members and the state, the PDP suffers from a leadership that undermines its own candidates and efforts during election cycles.
Reflecting on his journey, he described his time with the PDP as driven by a sincere desire to serve Lagos, including a full legal contest of the 2023 election results up to the Supreme Court. However, he stated that the experience reinforced his belief in APC’s structure and commitment to development.
He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his long-standing role in deepening democracy and acknowledged the efforts of Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and Seyi Tinubu for facilitating his smooth reintegration into the APC.
Calling on his supporters to join him in this new phase, Jandor said the focus remains on building a Lagos that works for everyone. “We remain committed to the values of service, integrity, and progress. Together, we will continue to champion the cause of a better Lagos for present and future generations,” he added.
