In a startling development, Favour Nweke, a resident of Rivers State, has shed light on the shocking incident where she poured scalding hot groundnut oil on her husband, Ekelediri Nwokekoro, in Okehi, Etche Local Government Area. The dramatic revelation unfolded during a media briefing at the Rivers State Police Command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, where Nweke was presented before journalists.

The incident, which had stunned the community, occurred earlier this week. Nweke, who had fled her home after the act, was apprehended by a vigilant group and subsequently handed over to the police.

Nweke, who appeared in handcuffs, maintained her composure and denied allegations of engaging in extramarital affairs. She detailed the events leading up to the harrowing incident, saying, “He will go out, at about 2 o’clock in the night and will come back early in the morning. Sometimes he would go and stay two or three days before coming back, then I asked him where are you even going?”

She went on to explain that her husband’s friend had informed her of troubling news involving her spouse. According to Nweke, her husband and others were allegedly involved in an illegal act that duped someone of N20 million. She claimed ignorance of this situation until that moment.

Their argument escalated, and Nwokekoro hit her. In response, she retreated to the kitchen and, in a fit of anger, poured hot oil on him. It was a shocking act that took a grave turn.

Nweke, now filled with remorse, pleaded for forgiveness from Nigerians, expressing deep regret for her actions. She said, “I feel bad. Had I known that this thing would turn out like this, I would not have done it to him. I will just go to my place and stay. I am begging for Nigerians; you people should forgive me.”

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Emeka Nwonyi, assured the public that Nweke would be held accountable for her actions. He emphasized that those who take the law into their own hands will face the appropriate legal consequences.
