Bayelsa APC postpones campaign flag-off, Gives Reason

The Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially postponed its campaign flag-off for the forthcoming gubernatorial election, which was initially slated for Saturday, October 14, 2023.

The unexpected announcement came through a statement issued by Perry Tukuwei, the Director of Media and Publicity for the Bayelsa APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council. The statement cited exigencies stemming from the office of the prominent political figure, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the primary reason behind the delay. President Tinubu had expressed a strong desire to be present at the event, prompting the party’s decision to postpone the campaign kick-off.

While expressing regret for any inconvenience caused by the postponement, the APC assured its stakeholders, party faithful, and the public that a new date for the campaign flag-off would be communicated shortly.

The Bayelsa APC emphasized its commitment to the overarching goal of wresting control of the state’s leadership from the ruling PDP-led government. It urged its supporters to remain steadfast and resolute in their efforts.

The statement concluded by revealing that, in the interim, campaign activities would continue in Bayelsa’s central Senatorial District. Specifically, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area is set to witness campaign activities on Tuesday, and Southern Ijaw Local Government Area will follow suit starting on Wednesday.

This delay marks a significant development in Bayelsa’s political landscape as the APC prepares to contest the gubernatorial election, and all eyes are on the new date to rally behind the party’s campaign efforts.
