What I Discussed with U.S. Ambassador – Atiku
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has revealed the details of his discussion with U.S. Ambassador Richard M. Mills Jr. during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Tuesday. Atiku was accompanied by political associates, including former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke.
Speaking on social media, Atiku said, “This afternoon, I had the honor of leading a delegation on a courtesy visit to the United States Ambassador, Richard M. Mills Jr., in Abuja. Our discussion focused on strengthening the enduring partnership between Nigeria and the United States, particularly in the areas of advancing democracy, security, and promoting shared prosperity.”
Atiku, who was the PDP presidential candidate in 2019 and 2023, has been critical of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the platform formed by a coalition of opposition leaders to contest against Tinubu in 2027, Atiku has indicated that he will seek the presidency in the next general election. Other notable figures interested in the ADC presidential ticket include former Labour Party candidate Peter Obi and former Rivers State Governor and Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi.
