Week of Triumph: Nigerian Military Rescues 182 Hostages, Eliminates 50 Terrorists

In a remarkable week-long operation, Nigerian troops have successfully eliminated 50 terrorists and rescued 182 hostages, according to the latest update from the Nigeria Defence Headquarters. The operations spanned various regions, resulting in the arrest of 49 individuals involved in oil theft and the recovery of substantial weaponry.

Major-General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, reported that the troops conducted targeted actions in different parts of the country. In the North East, Operation Hadin Kai neutralized 33 terrorists, apprehended 13, and rescued 132 hostages. Meanwhile, in the North Central, Operation Safe Haven eliminated 20 terrorists, arrested 34, and rescued 10 hostages.

Operation Whirl Stroke achieved success by neutralizing terrorists, arresting nine, and rescuing eight hostages. In the North West, Operation Hadarin Daji recorded the elimination of 20 terrorists, the arrest of 48, and the rescue of 56 hostages.

The air component played a crucial role, conducting air interdiction on the enclave of a terrorist leader known as ‘Damina’ in Zamfara. Additionally, Operation Whirl Punch neutralized four terrorists, arrested eight, rescued nine hostages, and recovered arms along with N75 million.

In the Niger Delta region, Operation Delta Safe demolished 242 dugout pits, 49 boats, 78 storage tanks, and 49 illegal refining sites. The troops also recovered substantial amounts of stolen crude oil and other illegal products.

Major-General Buba emphasized the commitment of the armed forces to maintaining strong military pressure on terrorists and their collaborators. He urged them to surrender, citing the success of similar actions in the North East and warning that continued resistance would result in heavy casualties.

The week’s operations showcased the determination of the Nigerian troops in combating terrorism and criminal activities across the country, marking a significant step forward in ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
