“We Won’t Underrate ADC, We’ll Match Them Money for Money in 2027” – APC Rep. Alex Egbuna
House of Representatives member for Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency, Alex Egbuna, has cautioned political players in Cross River State against dismissing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with journalists in Calabar, Egbunna described the ADC as “nothing,” but stressed that underestimating the party would be a costly mistake, particularly given the involvement of former governor Senator Liyel Imoke.
“Anybody who underrates the ADC in Cross River is not a serious politician,” Egbunna said. “They are nothing, but we will not underrate them since the likes of Senator Liyel Imoke are seriously involved and leading them in the state.”
The lawmaker, who referred to Imoke as his “boss and former principal,” acknowledged the former governor’s influence, adding: “In politics, you do not underrate any party. We’re going to match strength for strength, money for money, and connections for connections. That doesn’t mean they can defeat us in 2027.”
Egbunna expressed confidence in the ruling party’s record over the past two years, saying it has strengthened their prospects for victory.
On the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he dismissed its chances of recovery. “PDP can never regroup again. They are still tearing themselves apart. Everyone can see how their symbol, the umbrella, has torn. Their key members have abandoned it for the APC and other fragile opposition parties,” he said.
