Watch: Gunmen Attack Police Team in Delta, Officer Injured in Incident Captured on Video
Armed men attacked operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Delta State on Saturday, injuring at least one officer, according to information shared with SaharaReporters by a police source.
The exact location of the incident within the state was not disclosed.
Video footage obtained after the attack shows a police officer on the ground, injured and unable to stand. At several moments, he appears unresponsive, indicating the severity of his condition.
A Toyota Sienna police vehicle is visible at the roadside with one door left open, suggesting the officers may have been forced out or taken by surprise during the encounter.
A voice believed to be one of the attackers is heard in the background of the recording. The speaker makes threats, issues commands, and refers to the incident as having just occurred in Delta State. He is also heard verbally abusing the injured officer and ordering him to remain on the ground.
A gunshot can be heard during the recording, underscoring the level of violence involved.
As of the time of this report, the Delta State Police Command had not released an official statement. It remains unclear whether any arrests have been made or if other officers were affected.
