Video: Anambra Vigilante Strike Force Repels Deadly Attack by Unknown Gunmen, Two Assailants Killed
On September 4, 2024, the Anambra State Vigilante Group Strike Force thwarted a deadly attack by unknown gunmen in Amichi, Nnewi-South Local Government Area. The attackers, approximately ten in number and heavily armed, arrived in three vehicles in the early morning hours.
During the intense confrontation, the Vigilante Strike Force managed to repel the attackers. Two of the assailants were killed, one was captured alive, and the remaining gunmen fled with various gunshot wounds. Fortunately, despite the fierce exchange of gunfire, no personnel from the Vigilante Group were injured. However, one of their vehicles was damaged; a bullet struck the fuel tank, causing the vehicle to catch fire and be completely destroyed.
This incident follows a previous attack on August 10, 2024, when a large group of gunmen attempted to breach the state through Ezinifite, a border town with Imo State. During that attack, which coincided with a high-profile traditional marriage ceremony in Isuofia, the Vigilante Group engaged in a fierce battle, resulting in over 40 attackers being neutralized. The Nigerian Army’s timely intervention was instrumental in this victory, though the Strike Force did lose two personnel in the clash.
