Victor Osimhen Secures Lucrative N8.7 Billion Three-Year Deal with Napoli
In a major development for Nigerian football sensation Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles striker has inked a new three-year deal with Napoli. This agreement, reportedly worth N8.7 billion (€10 million) annually, solidifies Osimhen’s position as a key player for the Italian club.
Negotiations were expedited by Napoli to deter potential suitors, with reports from Italian media indicating that Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calendar, met with Napoli’s CEO, Aurelio de Laurentiis, on Wednesday night to finalize the deal. The new contract extends Osimhen’s stay at Napoli until the summer of 2026, adding an extra year to his previous contract set to end in 2025.
The negotiated deal includes a clause ensuring Napoli receives a substantial fee if any club attempts to lure the African Footballer of the Year away from the Italian champions. This provision protects Napoli’s interests and grants Osimhen the flexibility to consider attractive offers.
Italian media sources reveal that Napoli has actively worked to rebuild a positive relationship with Osimhen, addressing previous tensions stemming from a TikTok post by a club social media handler after Osimhen missed a penalty earlier in the season. Recent gestures, such as allowing Osimhen to attend the African Player of the Year award ceremony, have reportedly contributed to the improved atmosphere in negotiations.
In a parallel development, Serie A giants Juventus are eyeing Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface as a potential replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, who is anticipated to depart the club in the upcoming summer transfer window. Despite Juventus possessing a formidable squad, financial considerations and the need for rejuvenation prompt the club to seek new talents.
Vlahovic, previously targeted for a summer transfer with Romelu Lukaku lined up as his replacement, found no takers in the market. Juventus is now exploring the option of bringing in Nigerian striker Boniface, who has impressed in the Bundesliga, earning consecutive Rookie of the Month awards since his move to Germany. Juventus aims to bolster its attacking lineup and revitalize the squad in the quest for continued success in Serie A.
