Victor Osimhen Removes Napoli Instagram Posts Amid TikTok Controversy
In a surprising turn of events, Nigerian football sensation Victor Osimhen has purged his Instagram account of all traces related to Napoli, the Italian football club he currently represents. This digital cleansing comes in the wake of a TikTok saga that has sent shockwaves through the footballing world.
Osimhen, who has faced a challenging start to the 2023/24 season, found himself in the spotlight after missing a crucial penalty during Napoli’s recent goalless draw against Bologna. The drama escalated when Napoli’s manager, Rudi Garcia, decided to substitute the 24-year-old forward shortly after the penalty miss, a decision that left Osimhen visibly infuriated.
Despite his initial frustration, Osimhen later extended a public apology for his on-field outburst, attempting to defuse the situation. However, the storm was far from over.
On Tuesday, Napoli’s official Instagram account posted a video that took a jab at Osimhen’s missed penalty. This move did not sit well with Roberto Calendar, Osimhen’s agent, who declared that he “reserves the right to take legal action” against the club for causing “very serious damage to the player” through the dissemination of the video.
In response to Napoli’s social media taunt and the ongoing controversy, Victor Osimhen made a striking statement of his own. He systematically removed all images and posts related to Napoli from his Instagram page, hinting at his displeasure with the club’s actions.
This digital cleansing of his Instagram account has left many speculating about Osimhen’s future with Napoli. Despite talks and negotiations extending since the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, the Super Eagles forward has yet to commit to a new contract with the club. As tensions simmer and uncertainties loom, the football world watches with bated breath to see what the next chapter holds for Victor Osimhen and his relationship with Napoli.
