Vice-President Shettima Promises 50 Trucks of Rice to Maiduguri Flood Victims
In a visit to Maiduguri on Tuesday, Vice-President Kashim Shettima pledged 50 trucks of rice to support victims of the recent Alau dam flood disaster. Addressing those displaced at Bakassi camp, Shettima assured them of immediate relief and outlined plans for further aid.
Leading a federal delegation, Shettima was received by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and visited the flood-affected Shehu of Borno’s palace. He also committed to working with the North-East Development Commission and other agencies to ensure the displaced people do not remain in the camp for more than two weeks.
The floods, which struck Maiduguri early Tuesday, caused significant damage, inundating buildings and disrupting infrastructure throughout the city.
