UTME 2025: JAMB Announces Date for Mop-up Examination

UTME 2025: JAMB Announces Date for Mop-up Examination

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed Saturday, 28 June 2025, for the mop-up examination of this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This exercise is intended for candidates who missed the main UTME held in April and the rescheduled session in May.

In a statement released on Sunday by JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, the board advised eligible candidates to begin printing their registration slips from Monday, 23 June. These slips contain crucial information, including the assigned examination centres and scheduled times.

A total of 96,838 candidates have been scheduled to participate in the mop-up exercise, which will take place in 183 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide. Of this number, 5,096 candidates were unable to complete biometric verification during the earlier exams, while 91,742 were absent during both the main and rescheduled UTME sessions.

The board emphasized that the first session on examination day will begin at 8:00 a.m., advising candidates to arrive at their designated centres at least one to one and a half hours in advance to ensure a smooth process.

This year, more than two million candidates registered for the UTME. Over 1.9 million have already taken the exam. In addition to the main session in April, JAMB conducted a rescheduled exam in May for over 300,000 candidates after technical issues were reported.

The glitch affected CBT centres in Lagos and across five southeastern states—Anambra, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, and Enugu. Following investigations and public outcry over low scores, JAMB confirmed system errors, with Registrar Ishaq Oloyede offering an apology and promising corrective measures, including the rescheduled exam.

JAMB continues to encourage only eligible and genuine candidates to take advantage of the mop-up opportunity by promptly printing their examination slips ahead of Saturday’s exercise.
