Court Suspends 2025/2026 Admissions in UNILAG, OAU
The Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has directed the suspension of all 2025/2026 admission processes at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The order, issued on Tuesday by Justice A.T. Segun-Bello, followed an ex-parte motion filed by a group of applicants challenging the conduct of the post-UTME process in the two universities.
The motion was brought by candidates Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbem, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak, on behalf of other affected applicants. They sought interim injunctions preventing the institutions and JAMB from releasing, approving, or finalizing any admission list for the new academic session.
Justice Segun-Bello ruled that there was a “veritable and triable issue” that warranted hearing from both sides and ordered the applicants to put the respondents on notice. The court further directed all parties to maintain the status quo until the substantive motion is heard.
The development was made public by education technology expert and CEO of Educare, Alex Onyia, who shared the court order on his X handle. The case has been adjourned to October 28, 2025, for hearing.
