St. John Vianney Science College, Ukwulu, Anambra State, has claimed the top prize at the first-ever UK-Nigeria Debate Competition, outshining elite schools from both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

The virtual debate, held on June 19, 2025, brought together high-performing secondary schools from both nations in a spirited showcase of critical thinking and eloquence.

Representing Nigeria were four schools: Britarch Schools (Abuja), Sure Start School (Abuja), St. Augustine’s College (Jos), and St. John Vianney Science College (Ukwulu). Their UK counterparts included Central Foundation Girls’ School, Maghull High School, and Shireland High School.

Following a series of rigorous preliminary rounds, St. John Vianney Science College advanced confidently, defeating UK schools Maghull High and Central Foundation Girls’ in succession.
