Updated: Access Holdings CEO Herbert Wigwe, Wife, Sons, Abimbola Ogunbanjo Feared Dead in California Helicopter Crash
The Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife and two children, lost their lives in a helicopter crash in California, USA, while en route to witness Super Bowl 58. Wigwe had departed Lagos, Nigeria, on Wednesday for the high-profile American football event.
Previously reported to be heading to Las Vegas, the ill-fated chopper crashed near the border between Nevada and California on Friday night. Wigwe’s departure from Lagos State was motivated by his intention to attend Super Bowl 58, scheduled for Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Tragically, the crash claimed not only Herbert Wigwe’s life but also that of his wife and two children. Additional details reveal that Bimbo Ogunbanjo, son of businessman Chris Ogunbanjo, was also on the flight, further deepening the scope of the tragedy.
The absence of Herbert Wigwe and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Access Bank Lagos Marathon on Saturday was noted. Governor Sanwo-Olu was represented by his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.
