University Student Allegedly Commits Suicide Over Rent Dispute
A 300-level student at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL) in Niger State has died in an incident authorities are investigating as a possible suicide, reportedly connected to a dispute over house rent.
The student, who hailed from Suleja, lived in an off-campus lodge where he also worked as a caretaker, responsible for collecting rent from other tenants. Reports indicate that tension arose when the lodge owner requested rent payments that the student was unable to provide.
Local sources suggest the student may have lost the money to betting. A handwritten note was reportedly found at the scene.
Security agencies have been alerted and are conducting a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
