Ukachukwu-Ekwunife Coming to Raise Living Standards
When a Governor devotes precious man hours to gossip, governance suffers. When a Governor enjoys listening to and peddling rumours, it’s at the expense of the people’s wellbeing. As the Charles Soludo – led government wastes time, state funds and energy in shadow chasing and propaganda, the fortunes of Anambra State continue to decline. The victims are the masses who have to bear the pain of the State’s stagnant economy. They are not to despair because there’s a rescue plan.
Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and Iyom Uche Ekwunife are on a mission to launch Anambra State to greatness. They have the vision, the capacity, the experience. Very importantly too, they have the spirit to serve, the humility to listen to Ndi Anambra, compare notes with them and together, march on the road of development.
Economic growth and social welfare is at the heart of APC’s governorship manifesto. Prevailing economic practices emphasises room for the private sector to lead productive activities. We have hard working artisans, small and medium enterprises and struggling industries. But there is no coordinated programme by the present state government to support them achieve their potentials. If anything, they’re impeded with a truckload of levies and fees. It takes an entrepreneur, someone who has established and run businesses on a large scale, to first appreciate and then, navigate this route. Anambra is blessed to have this asset in Hon Nicholas Ukachukwu who at a time had up to 100 business ventures in the State. In nearly four years of misgovernment, not one industry of note was set up in the State!
In this age of globalisation and interdependence, a major means of economic growth and prosperity is through external investment. Tragically for Anambra, under Soludo, the State has not received foreign direct investment. The last FDI of $4.5m was attracted by Chief Willie Obiano in the first quarter of 2022. Ukachukwu’s international business reach, complemented with Ekwunife’s diplomatic contacts is set to change all that.
In addition to attracting investments, the Ukachukwu – Ekwunife manifesto has planned for other avenues to boost commerce and industry. Onitsha and Nnewi markets are to be upgraded and furnished with digital infrastructure. The plan includes “connecting Anambra’s entrepreneurs to Africa’s $3.4t market.” It will link “our traders to vast African markets, reduce barriers and boost exports.”
The Ukachukwu – Ekwunife ticket is committed to paying workers the standard minimum wage with the consequential adjustment which Soludo’s government has continued to dodge. It will implement a unique but robust poverty alleviation programme, one that “addresses specific needs of communities.” It’s not just a programme of action. It’s a pledge backed by proven commitment to the electorate. As a member of the House of Representatives and Senate, Iyom Uche Ekwunife set an unrivalled record in constituency empowerment. Scores and scores were given government jobs and critical projects attracted. With this wonderful gubernatorial ticket, lives will be positively touched. A great hope awaits Ndi Anambra.
