Two AAUA Students Arrested in Ondo Over Alleged Conspiracy and R@pe of 20-Year-Old Female Student
Police in Ondo State have arrested two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, over an alleged plot that led to the rape of a 20-year-old undergraduate.
DSP Olushola Ayanlade confirmed the development on Monday, noting that the case reflects the command’s heightened focus on serious offences. Investigators said the victim was invited by a longtime friend, 19-year-old Queen Sodo, to her residence, where she was offered a drink later discovered to have been laced with drugs. The substance reportedly left her unconscious.
According to the police, Sodo then stepped out to call a male accomplice and stayed nearby while the assault happened. A neighbour, alarmed by unusual noises, entered the apartment and found the victim unconscious with the male suspect present. The survivor was taken for urgent medical attention and later moved to a specialist hospital, where she is receiving care.
Authorities say both suspects have admitted involvement and detailed their roles in the incident. Investigators also recovered key evidence, including the tampered drink, which the victim and suspects identified.
The police state that the two students remain in custody and will be handed over to the Gender Desk Office for further investigation and prosecution. The command reiterated its commitment to ensuring perpetrators face justice and urged families to remind young people to exercise caution in relationships, as even long-term friendships can be exploited for harmful purposes.
