Trump Says Suspect in Charlie Kirk Killing is in Custody
President Donald Trump has confirmed the arrest of the suspected gunman in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, nearly 48 hours after the shooting at Utah Valley University.
Speaking in an interview with Fox News on Friday, Trump said authorities had apprehended the suspect linked to the attack. “I think with a high certainty, we have him in custody,” the president stated. “Everyone did a great job.”
The FBI had announced on Thursday a \$100,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s capture and released photos of the alleged shooter.
Kirk, a prominent conservative commentator and activist, was murdered on Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University. His death sparked a nationwide manhunt and widespread tributes from political allies.
During Thursday’s 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the Pentagon, Trump also revealed that Kirk will be awarded a posthumous presidential medal in recognition of his work.
