Trump Bans Transgender Student Athletes from Women’s Sports
U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order prohibiting transgender student athletes from competing in women’s sports, reinforcing his administration’s stance on gender and athletic participation.
At the signing ceremony on Wednesday, Mr. Trump declared, “With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over.” He later reiterated his position on Truth Social, emphasizing that schools receiving federal funding must comply with the order.
“We are putting every school receiving taxpayer dollars on notice: If you let men take over women’s sports teams or invade your locker rooms, you will be investigated for violations of Title IX and risk your federal funding,” he warned.
The move follows another executive order Mr. Trump signed in January, which banned gender-affirming surgeries for minors. His administration has consistently maintained that there are only two genders, shaping its policies on issues related to transgender rights.
