Truck Loses Control in Onitsha, Kills Six
Six people lost their lives on Saturday in a tragic accident involving a truck and multiple vehicles in the Upper Iweka area of Onitsha, Anambra State. The Anambra Police Command confirmed the incident, which also left several others injured and currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
According to the state police public relations officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the crash occurred when a truck reportedly lost control and rammed into pedestrians, two tricycles, and a commercial bus filled with passengers. The police have since secured the accident scene to maintain order and facilitate investigations.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in a morgue, and some of their relatives have been contacted. SP Ikenga conveyed the command’s condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery. He also urged motorists to carry out proper safety checks before setting out, stressing the importance of caution to prevent such devastating incidents.
