How TB Joshua Secretly Sought Stroke Treatment in Turkey While Preaching Miraculous Healing – Sowore
Nigerian activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has alleged that the late Prophet TB Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), secretly travelled to Turkey to receive treatment for a stroke, despite publicly preaching miraculous healing. Speaking on the KaaTruths programme, Sowore claimed that Joshua, known for his televised healing crusades, concealed his health condition from the public and opted for medical care abroad rather than seeking help through the spiritual methods he promoted.
According to Sowore, TB Joshua flew to Turkey aboard his private jet, where he underwent treatment for a stroke in secrecy. He argued that the decision to hide his illness contributed to the prophet’s eventual death, stating that the public never knew about the health struggles he faced behind the scenes. “Part of what I heard killed him is that he was hiding his sickness. When he was supposed to go for the treatment, he didn’t want the public to know that he had a stroke. It was never made public,” he said.
Sowore also questioned why fellow religious figures who claim to perform miracles did not come to Joshua’s aid. He specifically mentioned a self-proclaimed miracle worker in Port Harcourt, suggesting that if TB Joshua truly believed in the power of divine healing, he could have turned to one of his peers for a cure. “TB Joshua died of stroke and we have a stroke magician in Port Harcourt. He could have just flown to Lagos, placed his hand on TB Joshua, and we would have TB Joshua with us today,” he remarked.
He went on to criticise prominent pastors and general overseers for promoting supernatural healing while personally relying on top-tier medical services, including plastic surgery and hair transplants. Sowore accused them of hypocrisy and misleading their followers with claims that contradict their private actions. “There is none of these GOs, high-level evangelists, or pastors who mess with their health. They don’t play with their health. They use some of the best medical doctors all over the world to heal themselves,” he said.
Highlighting the broader implications of the issue, Sowore emphasised the need for a functional healthcare system in Nigeria. He said the country should have medical institutions capable of providing quality care to everyone, including religious leaders, without the need for secrecy or overseas travel. “I want a country where we have hospitals that function, so that even some of the pastors who can’t see well can get someone who knows how to treat their eyes very well and get the best treatment,” he said.
