Troops Kill 2 IPOB/ESN Sit-at-home Enforcers In Enugu
The Joint Task Force South-East, known as “Operation UDO KA,” neutralized two members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Enugu. These members were attempting to enforce an illegal sit-at-home order.
The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy, Police, Department of State Services, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, took place on Monday, July 29.
According to a statement released by Operation UDO KA on Tuesday, troops on patrol spotted three Toyota Sienna and one Toyota Highlander vehicles approaching from the Ogboahia area in Abia State. The troops pursued the suspects, leading to a confrontation.
“During the encounter, two IPOB sit-at-home enforcers were neutralized, and one of their Sienna vehicles was set ablaze,” the statement revealed. Further operations led to the recovery of a Toyota Highlander, a Toyota Sienna, a Kodak camera, a Techno phone, and several cutlasses.
Intelligence reports suggest that the enforcers planned to escalate their activities by hijacking a national protest to incite violence in the South-East region. The Joint Task Force has urged citizens to avoid being exploited by these groups.
Operation UDO KA called on the South-East residents to continue supporting security efforts by providing timely and credible information. Residents can report relevant information by dialing 193 and pressing Option 2 on their phones.
The statement reassured the public that the Joint Task Force is committed to safeguarding lives and property, adhering to global best practices and rules of engagement.
