“Train Your Mothers,” Lady Says After Beating Elderly Woman in Commercial Bus Altercation

A young woman in Lagos has sparked widespread reactions online after admitting she physically assaulted an elderly passenger during a dispute on a commercial bus.

In a video circulating on social media, the woman recounted that the incident occurred while she was traveling from Ikotun to Iyabo-Iba. According to her, the confrontation began when the older passenger complained about the volume of her phone. She said she lowered it as requested, but alleged that the woman continued to express dissatisfaction and began verbally insulting her.

The situation reportedly escalated into a heated argument. The younger woman claimed the elderly passenger slapped her during the exchange. She stated that she initially chose not to retaliate and instead confronted the woman verbally over the alleged assault.

However, she alleged that a second slap from the older woman prompted her to respond physically. The young woman admitted in the video that she then attacked the elderly passenger.

Her remarks in the video, where she defended her actions and urged others to “train their mothers,” have drawn significant criticism from viewers, many of whom condemned the use of violence—particularly against an elderly person—regardless of provocation.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident, and it remains unclear whether any formal complaint has been filed.
