RRS Officers Stop Woman from Jumping into Lagos Lagoon
Lagos police officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) rescued an elderly woman who attempted to jump into the lagoon from Carter Bridge on Friday. According to a statement posted on the squad’s official X handle, the incident occurred at around 12:20 p.m. during a routine patrol.
The officers reportedly noticed the woman’s distress and swiftly intervened to prevent her from taking her life. She was taken to the RRS Headquarters, where Commander CSP Shola Jejeloye engaged with her to understand her situation.
The police said the woman, her husband, and their 30-year-old son were given the opportunity to hold a private family meeting to resolve their issues. After the discussion, CSP Jejeloye offered the woman words of counsel and presented her with a cash gift. The family expressed their appreciation for the intervention, guidance, and support provided by the squad.
The woman has since been released into the care of her husband and son.
