“Tinubu’s Policies Have Increased Economic Hardship” – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has acknowledged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies have contributed to increased economic hardship across Nigeria. This admission came in response to criticisms from a former APC National Vice Chairman (North West), Salihu Mohammed Lukman, who accused both the current and former administrations of failing to fulfill their promises to Nigerians.

In a statement released by APC National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, the party defended Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as bold measures aimed at addressing long-standing structural problems in the nation’s economy. Morka noted that while these reforms have led to hardship, they are necessary steps to reset the country’s economic trajectory.

“The APC-led administration of President Tinubu is taking bold measures to reset our country’s long-broken economy, improve national security, and restore the country to wholesome and sustainable development,” Morka said. He added that Tinubu’s actions, though painful, are part of a long-term vision that will eventually benefit all Nigerians.

Morka further argued that previous administrations had avoided making tough decisions, which allowed economic challenges to fester. He praised Tinubu for choosing to confront these issues head-on, rather than postponing them for future governments.

Responding to Lukman’s criticism, Morka dismissed the allegations as baseless, labeling Lukman as a “political gaslighter” seeking attention. He accused Lukman of making contradictory statements, claiming that his recent calls for opposition unity were attempts to regain political relevance.

Lukman had earlier urged opposition leaders to unite ahead of the 2027 elections, calling for an end to APC leadership, which he claimed had failed to tackle corruption and economic mismanagement.

Despite the pushback, Morka maintained that Tinubu’s administration remains focused on its “renewed hope” agenda, and expressed confidence that the president’s efforts would be vindicated in the long run.
