Tinubu’s Aides Ask for Bribes Before Anyone Can See Him, Senate Chief Whip Alleges
Senate Chief Whip Ali Ndume has accused officials within the Presidential Villa of demanding bribes from individuals seeking access to President Bola Tinubu. Speaking on Arise News Channel, Ndume described a system that allows only a select few direct contact with the President, while others must navigate intermediaries who allegedly request payments.
Representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ndume expressed frustration over what he called a corrupt and exclusionary process. “I don’t have access to the President. The only time I see him is when he’s attending an event,” he said, adding that the government is dominated by “people who are the least qualified or most corrupt.”
He also highlighted difficulties in reaching the President through official channels, citing bureaucratic obstacles and aides who allegedly block communication. Ndume recounted writing to request a meeting on financial matters, only to face delays and obstruction.
His comments come amid growing concerns about the distance between the Presidency and key stakeholders, including lawmakers and state officials. The Presidential Villa has yet to respond to the allegations.
