Tinubu Orders Inclusion of NOUN Graduates in NYSC, Law School

President Bola Tinubu has mandated the Ministry of Education to integrate graduates of the National Open University (NOUN) into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme and ensure their admission to the Law School.

During his address at the university’s 13th convocation ceremony on April 13 at the Jabi, Abuja campus, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of promoting distance learning to enhance educational accessibility.

Representing President Tinubu, Biodun Saliu, the Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), announced the president’s decision to address the longstanding issue of NOUN graduates’ exclusion from the NYSC scheme and the Law School.

Saliu stated, “With the evolving demographics of our nation, it is imperative to include NOUN graduates in the NYSC scheme, ensuring equitable opportunities for all. Additionally, the Law School is now open to NOUN graduates, eliminating any disparities in access to legal education.”

He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality, accessibility, and affordability of education in Nigeria, emphasizing collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Education and the NUC to facilitate the successful implementation of this initiative.

Prior to this directive, Abdallah Adamu, the former vice-chancellor of NOUN, had assured the 2017 graduating class that efforts were underway to facilitate their participation in the NYSC program and admission to the Nigerian Law School.
