Tinubu Administration to Convene High-Level Meeting with Northern Leaders on Regional Challenges

The Bola Tinubu administration is set to convene a crucial meeting with key Northern leaders and influencers in an effort to address the pressing challenges facing the region. The Northern region of Nigeria continues to grapple with severe issues, including rampant insecurity, widespread poverty, and a significant number of out-of-school children.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking in an interview with Radio France Internationale (RFI) in Hausa, disclosed the administration’s plans to bring together prominent figures from the North to strategize on solutions. “We will reach out to our compatriots from the North, like Aliko Dangote, the richest Black man in the world,” Shettima stated.

The Vice President highlighted the importance of involving a diverse group of Northern stakeholders, including influential business leaders such as Abdul Samad Rabiu, Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, Alhaji Muhammed Indimi, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, and others. He emphasized that the initiative would also seek the support of Northern political figures from across party lines, such as AbdulAzeez Yari Abubakar, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, all of whom share a strong commitment to the region’s development.

Shettima stressed that the meeting would not be a mere formality but a focused effort to secure tangible support from all participants. “If you are someone who is blessed, what support would you render?” he posed, underlining the administration’s intention to rally both political leaders and business magnates around a common goal.

The forthcoming high-level discussions will include governors, politicians, businesspeople, and traditional rulers from the North, all coming together to tackle the region’s deep-rooted issues head-on.
