Three Nigerians Arrested in Chandigarh with Narcotics
In a recent crackdown on drug trafficking, the crime branch of Chandigarh Police has apprehended three foreign nationals for possession of 204.86 grams of amphetamine. The suspects, identified as Frank Nwokeji, Loua, and Jack David llobi Tochukwu Devid, all hailing from Nigeria and residing in New Delhi, were intercepted near the Haryana Roadways workshop in Industrial Area, Phase 1.
Acting on secret information, the police had received intelligence indicating that the trio, with African origins, intended to distribute a large quantity of narcotics in the nightclubs of Industrial Area, Phase 1. Upon frisking the suspects, the police discovered the illicit substance in their possession.
According to a statement from the authorities, the suspects, who had previously entered India on short-term medical visas, were found to have overstayed their visas and engaged in drug peddling activities. It is believed that they had acquired the narcotics from a supplier at a discounted rate with the intention of selling them at a higher price in the Tricity area’s nightclubs.
The suspects have been booked under Section 22 of the NDPS Act, with the police highlighting their prior criminal records. An official remarked, “They came to India on a short-term medical visa and got involved in drug peddling. Their visas had already expired. They purchased the drug from a supplier on cheap rate and were planning to sell it at a higher rate at night clubs in the Tricity area for quick money.”
Authorities have disclosed that the investigation into the matter is ongoing, with hopes of dismantling the wider drug syndicate.
