“This is nothing but an act of anti-party, and it is detrimental” – Anambra APC Leaders Condemn Tinubu’s Appointment of Bianca Ojukwu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has expressed strong disapproval of President Bola Tinubu’s recent appointment of Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu as a minister-designate, labeling the move as an “anti-party action.”

During an emergency meeting held in Awka on Thursday, APC leaders criticized the president for making the appointment without consulting party members, asserting that this decision undermines party loyalty and morale among their ranks.

High Chief Bunty Onuigbo, the South East Zonal Secretary of APC and a member of the APC Elders Forum in Anambra, articulated the sentiments of the stakeholders. He stated that the appointment not only violates the principles of party loyalty but also empowers rival political factions at the expense of the APC’s standing in the state.

Onuigbo questioned, “Does Mr. President want a mass defection of APC members in Anambra to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)? Is he indirectly working for APGA in Anambra State?” He described the current situation as “unheard of and highly demoralising,” indicating a growing concern that the leadership in Abuja is favoring opposition parties.

“This is a group that despises the APC and wants nothing to do with us. Mr. President is encouraging them by making such appointments,” Onuigbo added.

In response to the situation, APC stakeholders have decided to formally communicate their grievances regarding the appointments to the state chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, for escalation to the National Working Committee and the National Executive Committee.
