Tesla Cybertruck Explodes Outside Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, One Dead
A Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday left one person dead and seven others injured, according to police.
The incident occurred near the 64-story luxury hotel, situated just off the Las Vegas Strip and across from the Fashion Show Las Vegas shopping mall. Authorities responded to the scene early in the morning after reports of smoke and a subsequent explosion.
Sheriff Kevin McMahill of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the death of an individual inside the vehicle but did not disclose their identity or gender. He also reported seven others sustained minor injuries from the blast. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
McMahill revealed that the Cybertruck, a 2024 model, had pulled up to the hotel’s glass entrance when smoke began to emerge before the vehicle exploded. He stated, “At this time, we are investigating a number of leads and taking all necessary precautions to ensure community safety.”
The sheriff also noted the deadly New Orleans attack, where a man drove a pickup truck into a crowd, killing at least 10 people just hours before the Las Vegas incident. While there is no immediate evidence connecting the two events, authorities are closely examining the timing.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has developed a close relationship with former President Donald Trump, said the company has no prior record of such an incident. Musk confirmed that a senior investigative team is working to uncover what caused the explosion.
The Cybertruck, known for its futuristic steel design, was introduced in 2023 as a hallmark of Tesla’s innovative approach. Sheriff McMahill acknowledged the high-profile nature of the event, stating, “A Cybertruck, the Trump Hotel—there are lots of questions that we have to answer as we move forward.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
