Terrorists Strike Sokoto Village: 4 Dead, 18 Abducted
Sokoto state’s Giyawa village, situated in the Goronyo Local Government Area, fell victim to a horrifying banditry attack. The Sokoto Police Command has confirmed the devastating event, which resulted in the loss of four lives.
According to Ahmed Rufai, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, the assailants not only took four lives but also abducted 18 individuals. The attackers didn’t stop there; they looted valuable possessions, including livestock, adding to the distress of the affected community.
In a glimmer of hope amidst the grim situation, it was reported that seven of the initially abducted individuals managed to escape from their captors. These brave escapees returned to Giyawa village, which had already witnessed many of its residents fleeing for safety due to the harrowing attack.
While alternative sources within the afflicted community claimed that more than 30 individuals were taken hostage, the police maintained that 11 individuals were still in the hands of the attackers.
The Sokoto Police Command is actively pursuing the assailants and is dedicated to restoring normalcy to the traumatized community. The incident serves as a harsh reminder of the ongoing security challenges facing regions like Sokoto and the urgent need for measures to protect innocent lives and property.
