Terrorist Attack Rocks Zamfara Community, Claims Four Lives, Abducts Over 40 Residents
Terrorists, commonly known as bandits, launched a brutal attack on Kasuwa-Daji Town in the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State early Tuesday morning. The assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, targeted the community, leaving a trail of destruction.
Reports indicate that the terrorists killed four individuals, including two policemen, during the attack. The invaders, described as wielding anti-aircraft guns, unleashed chaos in the town, resulting in the indiscriminate firing of shots as they sought to abduct residents.
The residence of the former State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Hamisu Kasuwar-Daji, became a primary target. The bandits kidnapped one of his wives and grandchildren, illustrating the personal nature of the assault.
Additionally, the terrorists assaulted the nearby police station, claiming the lives of two officers on duty and seizing their weapons. The attack, lasting over two hours, went unchallenged, leading to further loss of lives and the abduction of approximately 40 residents during a house-to-house raid.
Residents, terrified by the onslaught, recounted the harrowing experience to journalists. “Two residents were also killed, not only policemen. As of now, about 40 residents have been whisked away by the bandits,” revealed one resident.
While the Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the attack, they have yet to disclose the exact number of casualties. The Command’s spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, informed Channels TV, “Yes, there was an attack in Kasuwar-Daji early hours of today. We are yet to confirm the number of residents abducted, but the Commissioner of Police has deployed additional troops to restore normalcy in the town.”
