Imo APC Senator Narrowly Escapes Assassination; Orderly Fatally Shot
Gunmen launched an attack on Senator Patrick Ndubueze, representing Imo-North senatorial district (Okigwe zone), resulting in the tragic death of one of his security personnel. The senator, affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), had secured his position through victory in the National Assembly elections on February 25, 2023.
According to a reliable insider, the assailants targeted Senator Ndubueze’s residence in Umualumoke during the early hours of Monday, February 12. Despite the senator managing to escape unharmed, one of his police officers lost his life during the assault.
“The news of Senator Patrick Ndubueze being attacked is true. They stormed his residence at Umualumoke and killed a policeman working for him. It could be the same set of hoodlums that also ambushed the Correctional Service in Okigwe,” revealed the insider.
Expressing concern over the escalating situation, the source likened Okigwe to a war zone, causing fear among residents and prompting many youths to flee for safety. “Okigwe has become a war zone where no one is saved. We are living in total fear. Most of our youths have run away for fear of being killed,” lamented the source.
SK Blog learned that the spokesperson for the Imo state police command, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident. He further stated that the state’s commissioner of police, Aboki Danjuma, has mobilized a tactical team to track down the assailants, addressing the growing concerns over security in the state.
