Tension Grips Umuoji Community as Gunmen Assassinate President-General
The Umuoji Community in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State is reeling from the assassination of its President-General, Silas Onyima. The incident occurred on Friday evening when a group of unidentified gunmen, numbering about 15, stormed Onyima’s residence and mercilessly shot him dead.
Details surrounding the tragic event are still hazy, but reports suggest that the deceased, who had recently assumed the role of president-general, fell victim to the assailants during the violent attack. Eyewitnesses recounted that masked men visited Onyima’s home, leaving him lifeless in the aftermath.
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident and disclosed that police operatives have been swiftly dispatched to the area. Speaking on behalf of the police, DSP Ikenga stated, “The police are aware of the development. We got the information, and we have deployed our men to the area. Our men found the man in a pool of blood.”
Efforts to apprehend the perpetrators are in full swing, with the police collaborating with eyewitnesses and community members to gather vital information. The body of the deceased has been recovered and deposited at the morgue, and investigations are ongoing to unravel the motive behind this brazen act of violence.
