In a recent social media post on Sunday, Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has raised concerns about President Bola Tinubu’s educational qualifications. Atiku challenged Tinubu to shed light on how he obtained a degree from Chicago State University without possessing primary and secondary education.
This call for clarification comes as Atiku continues to contest the outcome of the February 25 presidential election, in which Tinubu emerged as the victor. Atiku has also drawn attention to alleged inconsistencies in Tinubu’s certificate from Chicago State University.
Atiku’s tweet sarcastically emphasized the need for transparency, suggesting that Nigerians and the global community could learn from Tinubu’s journey to attaining a foreign university degree without the traditional educational foundation. The former Vice President highlighted the discrepancy between Tinubu’s earlier educational claims and his current assertion of having no primary and secondary education.
In his tweet, Atiku referenced Tinubu’s previous educational history, where he had claimed to attend St. John’s Primary School in Aroloya, Lagos, followed by Children Home School in Ibadan. Tinubu had also mentioned Government College Ibadan and Richard Daley College before attending Chicago State University in the United States. However, in 2023, Tinubu reportedly stated that he only attended Chicago State University.
Atiku expressed his bewilderment at the apparent change in Tinubu’s educational narrative and questioned the feasibility of obtaining a university degree without a proper foundation of primary and secondary education. He urged Nigerians to join him in seeking clarification from Tinubu about this matter.
