Suspected Yahoo Boy Lynched, Set Ablaze for Behe@ding Woman in Delta
A suspected internet fraudster, commonly referred to as a “Yahoo boy,” was lynched and set ablaze by a mob in Otor-Owhe, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, after allegedly beheading a woman on her farm.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Oghenero, was reportedly caught when he returned from the bush carrying a blood-soaked polythene bag. Suspicion arose after the headless body of the victim, known as Oshomirara, was later discovered.
Angry youths and local vigilantes tracked him to his residence, where they allegedly found the severed head of the victim. As he attempted to escape, he was shot in the legs before the mob set him ablaze. A viral video of the incident captured the suspect pleading for his life while being attacked, with one voice in the background shouting, “You do me, I do you!”
The incident has sparked outrage, with many condemning both the alleged ritual killing and the act of jungle justice.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, confirmed the killing and stated that security operatives had been deployed to restore calm in the community. He warned residents against taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing that jungle justice prevents proper investigations and the prosecution of criminals.
