Super Falcons Coach Randy Waldrum Resigns, Cites Reasons

American coach Randy Waldrum has officially stepped down from his role as head coach of the Super Falcons. The announcement was made in a resignation letter dated September 12, where Waldrum, 67, cited his wife’s health issues as the primary reason for his decision.

In his letter, Waldrum expressed that the recent challenges related to his wife’s health have been overwhelming. He stated, “It’s been a very difficult few weeks following the Olympics, with my wife’s health issues, and the worries that obviously come with that. This will allow the NFF ample time to find the next manager to take over this incredible squad.”

Waldrum took over as head coach of the Super Falcons in 2020. Under his leadership, the team reached the semi-finals of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco and made an impressive run in the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, where they were eliminated in the Round of 16 by England in a penalty shootout.
