It has become necessary to present an account of events that occurred in the environs of the palace on Sunday 5 July 2020.
Two members of Abiodun family from Akiogun branch of the Oniru Royal Family reigned for a total of eighty-five years, Prince Adesegun Abiodun-Oniru grandfather and then his father; HRM Oba Idowu Abiodun-Oniru.
There are three branches within the Oniru Royal Family, namely Akiogun, Ogunyemi and Abisogun who have equal rights to the throne. The new monarch Oniru of Iru-Land, HRM AbdulWasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II is from the Abisogun branch.
Palace officials are working assiduously with a team of consultants to collate information and create a database of vital asset information for the Oniru Royal Family file records. There is no malevolence intention.
Assets, documentation, paraphernalia of office of the Oniru Royal Family are held and managed in trust by The Oniru on behalf of all branches of the Royal Family
Prince Tijani Abiodun-Oniru from the Abiodun branch of the Oniru Royal family reportedly attacked a palace official who was in the process of placing an advisory notice by the entrance of Millennium Estate. The official was forced to defend himself from an unprovoked attack by the Prince and his team. Palace staff had to recue the palace official.
Sadly, the Prince later chose to invade the palace in the company of his elder brother, Prince Adesegun Abiodun-Oniru and others in a manner most unbecoming of Princes. The situation had to be contained as it could have degenerated particularly as Prince Adesegun’s convoy entered the Iru Palace premises led by a Police pilot vehicle.
HRM AbdulWasiu Omogbolahan Lawal Abisogun has publicly stated his plans to rebrand redevelop and regenerate Iru-Land and this will be beneficial to the Oniru Royal Family, residents and businesses within Iru-Land.
