#OniruHeist: Oniru palace alerts public about planned protest by faceless group
Sunday, July 12, 2020
FOR URGENT RELEASE
The attention of the Oniru’s Palace and the Oniru Royal Family has been drawn to a planned protest by a faceless group, sponsored by some disgruntled members of the family, to confuse the general public about the true state of affairs in Iru kingdom.
Whilst we acknowledge the freedom to protest as a constitutional and fundamental human right, the relevant security agencies are hereby informed to note of this activity and its threat to cause a break down of law and order in Iru land. Through ill-conceived protests such as these, unsuspecting members of the public may be put in harm’s way to cause a breach of peace.
It is important to reiterate that Iru Kingdom is a peaceful, upscale community in Lagos. The Oniru of Iru, Oba Abdulwasiu Gbolahan Lawal, has since his ascension, demonstrated a unique commitment to peace for residents and business owners.
We enjoin residents and business owners to go about their duties and activities unhindered, as the palace will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders for continuous peace and development in Iru Kingdom.
Signed:
Media Office of The Oniru of Iru Kingdom
